Position Summary |
Assistant Women's Basketball Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. Responsibilities will include assisting the Head Coach with administrative duties, all facets of recruiting, as well as assisting the program in accordance with the mission, core values, policies, and procedures of the Athletic Department,
WSSU, the
CIAA, and the
NCAA. Duties may include recruiting and retaining top prospective student-athletes; establishing a competitive schedule; coordinating practice planning, skill development, and designing strategies which will prepare the team for competition; mentoring student-athletes; aiding in fundraising and development initiatives; organizing sport camps; and budget management while demonstrating adherence to
WSSU,
CIAA, and
NCAA rules and regulations.
Assist the Head Coach with administrative duties, fundraising and development initiatives, as well as management of the women's basketball program in accordance with the policies and philosophies of the
CIAA and the
NCAA.
Assist with the oversight of the team's conditioning and training, arranging team travel plans including practice times on the road; coordinating recruiting and aiding the Head Coach with public and alumni relations.
On the floor coaching; recruiting; assigned position coach; help with equipment organization and responsible for weekly practice timesheets.
Performs other duties as assigned. |

3 years of college basketball coaching experience at Division I or II level.
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's preferred.
Serve as an appropriate role model for student-athlete through his/her instructions and actions.
The ability to effectively communicate and build a positive rapport with college level student athletes.
Must be well versed in player development, film breakdown, and opponent scouting experience.
Highly motivated.
Commitment to the University's core values and strategic plan.
Organizational skills, computer skills are a must, ability to self start, meet deadlines, work without supervision, multi-task, problem solve, and relate and adapt to various personalities and diverse circumstances.
Experience recruiting collegiate level student-athletes.
Knowledge of
