Job Description

This is a REMOTE position and would like the candidate to be located in theNorth-East to South-East region.

Job Summary

Lead packaging business development from inception into quoting, production and maintain effective communication with the sales and manufacturing team. The Packaging Technical BDM participates in the design phase of projects by working with structural packaging designs engineers onprototypes while meeting all manufacturing criteria and customer expectations. Provides solutions in a timely manner to the stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses information provided by the clients, sales, manufacturing, and stakeholders to create innovative packaging solutions, considering visual and structural integrity and cost-effective manufacturability and assembly.
  • Collaborate with structural packaging design team members to identify and develop the best possible packaging solution.
  • Able to interpret concrete and abstract directions from clients, sales, and management to develop a packaging solution that exceeds customer expectations.
  • Support all RFP/RFQrequest by sales and management
  • Effectively communicate the reasoning behind design & material decisions to stakeholders.
  • Maintain clear organization of large ongoing projects involving a multitude of components and revisions.
  • Remain up to date on new packaging trends, materials, and technology.
  • Perform market research to identify, evaluate and launch new growth opportunities.
  • Act as a project manager with respect to new opportunities by constructing an initial business case, identifying/researching potential partners, coordinating market research, and coordination with marketing to develop sales and marketing materials.
  • Identifies what is important to track within their selected markets and reports on developments.
  • Tracks and reports various performance metrics and modifies projections as appropriate based on insights drawn from industry events, customer behavior, technology developments, etc.
  • Provides ongoing competitive intelligence on competitors.
  • Act as a consultant by becoming a subject matter expert in a particular area and coach others as they launch similar initiatives.
  • 25% of time required for Travel.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in the packaging industry, preferably in folding cartons
  • Packaging Knowledge - Folding Carton, Rigid Box, Pulp Tray, Inserts, Corrugate, POP Displays, Retail & Industrial Packaging
  • 3+ year's experience in business development, contracts, licensing or marketing.
  • Based in the Eastern part of the country, preferably Southeast.
  • Well-developed research skills.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
  • Strong financial background.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • General comfort in working with ambiguity

RRD's current salary range for this role is $98,100 to $156,900 / year. The salary range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future.At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
