Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Building Engineering Helper.

The Building Engineering Helper handles and performs and assists in a variety of technical, non-licensed mechanical, electrical, maintenance, HVAC, painting, carpentry, custodial, plumbing, general repair, and other handyperson tasks at facility or complex under direct supervision of a more experienced trade person or engineer

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs general repairs and services in all maintenance related disciplines, including; carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, minor electrical, finish work, painting, custodial, HYAC, etc.
  • Helps to ensure all building and maintenance policies, procedures, codes, regulations, etc. are followed and enforced including safety systems and standards.
  • Support the various trade personnel at a facility or complex in the performance and completion of their duties as needed and assigned
  • With direction from the engineer, property manager, director of engineering, etc, prioritize work orders, handle urgent requests, respond to tenant and client calls as required, and complete any and all assigned preventative maintenance work and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3 years of experience in general maintenance, caretaking, mechanical, electrical, and/or equipment and building repairs
  • Trade school may count as 1 year experience
  • Mechanical aptitude is necessary; good math skills preferred
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must possess a high level of accuracy and neatness
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position including bending, squatting, stretching and lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. On occasion, may be required to lift items weighing 50 to 100 pounds
  • Must be able to read and follow written manuals and SOP's

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $79,690.90 - $79,690.90 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
