Oncology Nurse Practitioner

Lowell General Hospital, part of Tufts Medicine, is seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse Practitioner to join our dedicated cancer care team full time. The NP will deliver high-quality, compassionate care to oncology patients as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role includes managing a dedicated patient caseload, collaborating closely with oncologists and other healthcare professionals, and providing personalized support to patients and their families throughout their treatment journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive care to oncology patients in collaboration with the medical and nursing teams.

• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history reviews and physical exams.

• Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and imaging.

• Develop and adjust individualized treatment plans in alignment with evidence-based protocols.

• Prescribe medications and monitor therapeutic responses, adjusting regimens as necessary.

• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and self-care.

• Participate in care coordination, discharge planning, and referrals to support services.

• Document all patient encounters in the EMR with clarity and timeliness.

• Serve as a clinical leader and mentor to other healthcare staff.

• Stay current on oncology best practices and engage in continuous professional development.

Qualifications

Required:

• Master's degree in Nursing.

• Current Massachusetts licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).

• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred:

• Oncology specialty certification (e.g., AOCNP).

• Prior experience in oncology or hematology care settings.

• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Competency in managing both acute and chronic illness in oncology patients.

• Passion for patient-centered care and education.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking, standing, and occasional lifting (up to 35 lbs).

• Manual dexterity for procedures and EMR documentation.

• Exposure to infectious diseases and chemotherapy agents.

• Ability to respond to auditory and visual cues in patient care.
