Payroll Specialist

One of Wisconsin's most progressive automotive dealer groups is currently looking for an ambitious and highly organized individual to join their payroll department as a payroll specialist. This position calculates various payrolls for multiple dealerships (hourly, salary, technician, and commission-based pay) using reports generated from various software applications (Paylocity and CDK) and Excel spreadsheets. Other job duties include posting payrolls to the general ledger and payroll related schedule reconciliation, along with some human resource functions such as new hire onboarding, and responding to employee questions.

Employment Type: Full-time, 100% in office

Job duties include, but are not limited to:



  • Calculating commissions, guarantees, and bonuses for monthly paid employees
  • Downloading labor from DMS to calculate technician pay
  • Verifying employee deductions, attendance, hours worked, and pay adjustments with the management staff
  • Update and maintain the Excel workbooks
  • Balance payroll related schedules
  • Post payrolls and accruals in GL
  • Calculate and post technician and hourly employee accruals
  • Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters
  • Maintaining highly confidential documents and remaining professional at all times


Applicant MUST:



  • Have a minimum of 2 years' experience calculating payroll, preferably commission based payrolls (experience with technician flat rate-based pay is a plus)
  • Have excellent math skills and knowledge in the Accounting field and the use of Accounting software (CDK experience is a plus)
  • Have Advanced knowledge and experience working with Excel
  • STRONG attention to detail
  • Be able to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment
  • Be highly organized and self-motivated
