Under general supervision, develops, implements, and presents educational programs dealing with community risk reduction and life safety education topics involving the Fire and Rescue Department. Delivers focused community risk reduction and life safety education programs to populations including preschool children and staff, parents, senior program staff and senior adults. Develops, produces, and updates curriculum for educational programs. Schedules presentations for educational programs and coordinates field personnel to assist with presentations. Provides written responses to inquiries related to all programs. Produces monthly reports and brochures. Researches opportunities for funding. Maintains data for all types of presentations and evaluation of program effectiveness. Conducts annual evaluations of programs to measure the overall effectiveness and plan for future development. Orders and maintains inventory for materials used by the Life Safety and Community Risk Reduction sections. This position may require availability during evening and weekend hours to support the program needs and mission.

Conducts fire safety and injury prevention programs for preschool children and senior adults; -
Revises specific educational programs to relate to the needs of the target audience; -
Designs and produces materials to be used in delivery of educational programs; -
Conducts annual evaluation to measure effectiveness of programs; -
Responds to citizen inquiries relating to educational programs; -
Keeps abreast of current trends in life safety education.

Ability to employ statistical methodologies to monitor effectiveness of programs; -
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with County staff, private organizations and citizens.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite software, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience planning, implementing, and presenting educational programs.
- Experience working with preschool or elementary school aged children.
- Experience working with senior adults.
- Experience developing and delivering educational programs for high-risk populations.
- Experience administering fire safety education programs.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Driver's license (required)
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, driving record check and sanctions screening to the satisfaction of the employer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to stoop and bend for presentations. Ability to work with arms extended over the head for long periods of time for presentations
