Position Summary

Social Service Aide is to assist with interviewing and assisting clients, coordinating work and supervising social services volunteers, ordering food, supplies, working with other agencies in the community, assisting with general office requirements, and recordkeeping and statistical reporting.

Essential Functions



  • Aid individuals and families in need with The Salvation Army programs.
  • Have knowledge of WellSky and PantryTrak programs and be able to maintain accurate records.
  • Provide general assistance with a wide range of social services, including intake, screening, and resource allocation.
  • Knowledge of community resources and understanding of available social services and resources within the community.
  • Demonstrate empathy and understanding of the needs and challenges faced by individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities efficiently.
  • Oversee and manage Pathway of Hope program, ensuring it is implemented effectively and in compliance with guidelines.
  • Other duties as required and not listed above, which will accomplish the mission of The Salvation Army.


Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications



  • At least one year experience in related field.
  • Equivalent of an AA Degree from accredited College.
  • Valid CA Driver's License
  • Driving Test and clean MVR check.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities



  • Ability to carry out assignments independently and good time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Salvation Army history, policies and practices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, staff, and community partners, both verbally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with computer software and data management systems.
