About the Position

The IT Project Manager provides the coordination, direction, and implementation of information technology projects. This position includes maintaining the organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing IT best practices. The Project Manager supports the Technology Bureau by understanding the organization's goals, strategies and a commitment to serve our clients/stakeholders.

Position Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, information technology, or a related field.

Experience

  • Three (3) years of managing IT projects or IT business systems analysis involving project planning through completion.

OR

Combined education and experience qualifications

  • Other combinations of education or experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis.

Other requirements

  • In order to be considered for employment with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, successful candidates must not have a revoked or suspended driver's license.
  • Training that may be provided on-the-job: FEMA NIMS - IS100 and 700; Safety; Payroll; PREA.
  • Prior to hiring, the Sheriff's Office requires that all candidates pass a background review.

Our Preferred Candidate has

  • Master's degree in business administration or IT related field.
  • Seven (7) years of experience managing complex projects.
  • Experience with project management of complex projects or programs software and infrastructure.
  • Experience in deploying Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) applications and systems.
  • Experience in deploying Software as a service (SaaS) applications and systems.
  • Experience with agile methodology and run agile software programs or projects.
  • Experience with deploying system upgrades or releases and release management.
  • Experience with Organizational Change Management (OCM).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.

Essential Job Tasks

  • Oversees various system projects of moderate size and complexity.
  • Develops and manages project scope, cost, schedule, internal staffing, and outside vendors.
  • Sets priorities, coordinates, and reports on the activities of the project team.
  • Oversees development of business requirement specifications.
  • Confirms that testing of all project programs, systems, or modules is accomplished.
  • Verifies completion of all project documentation.
  • Ensures that all necessary data feed and system integration requirements are considered.
  • Coordinates all activities required for project implementation; establishes and maintains accurate plans, time estimates, and schedules.
  • Promotes adherence to established schedule, quality, and budgetary metrics.
  • Tracks project milestones.
  • Manages project scope and change control, escalating when necessary.
  • Collects and reports data as required for departmental reports and statistics.
  • Coordinates project team communications with users, associates, and supervisors for complete, timely, and accurate information.
  • Prioritizes work and manages time constraints to meet agreed targets.
  • Assists management in evaluating technology issues, policies, and procedures.
  • Manages project progress and adapts work as required.
  • Manages relations with resources and stakeholders.
  • Designs a risk mitigation plan.
  • Optimizes and improves processes and the overall approach when necessary.
  • Assists and mentors other team members and directs workflow.
  • Supervises staff when assigned by commander (e.g., manages employee performance, performs appraisals).

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
