The Position
This position provides counseling services to OCC and Kean Ocean students, and Displaced Homemaker Program clients. The incumbent will participate in the overall operation and strategic mission of the department providing development, implementation, coordination, evaluation and assessment of functions, programs, services and strategic plans.

Staff Duration: Full Time 12 months
What You Will Do
Conducts professional counseling sessions in individual and group settings to OCC and Kean Ocean students, as well as others participating in specific campus programs.
Manages interventions for emotional and psychological distress situations, and conducts follow-up counseling and/or case management services.
Completes accurate documentation for services provided and maintains confidential student files.
Provides consultative services to faculty and staff regarding student behavior and situations.
Serves on or provides support/intervention to the CARE Team.
Works collaboratively with other college departments and external community agencies to ensure comprehensive services, programs and seminars for the college community.
Develops, coordinates and/or conducts seminars/workshops on topics related to academic success, personal and professional development, psycho-education, and life skills.
Collaborates with staff on grant funded projects and services.
Related projects and duties as assigned.
The Successful Candidate Must Have
1. Master's Degree in Counseling, or appropriate academic disciples (psychology, social work, or human services) which prepares specifically for counseling positions. 2. Two or more years' experience in counseling, providing direct counseling services to students and/or clients and demonstrated experience presenting to groups. 3. Demonstrated skills to respond to students or clients in high emotional distress or psychological crisis; knowledge of appropriate processes. 4. Possession of LAC, LSW or other related licensure as a professional counselor or social worker in New Jersey; with the understanding that an LPC or LCSW is to be secured within 3 years from the date of hire. 5. Bilingual in English and Spanish. 6. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and database or other technology related to this position; ability to create detailed documents and reports.
Even Better If You Have
1. Counseling in a college or community college environment. 2. Possession of New Jersey LPC or LCSW license. 3. Experience working with addiction and recovery issues.
