Job Summary:

This Custodian position is a team member of the Wisconsin Union -Facilities Custodian Team during the Union Terrace season. (estimated to be April-October) . Duties include routine maintenance and cleaning, trash removal and upkeep of the Memorial Union Terrace. Work is performed under the guidance of a Custodial Services Supervisor.

Our organization, the Wisconsin Union, is the social heart of UW-Madison, providing events, facilities, and activities for students, staff, faculty, thousands of Wisconsin Union members, and visitors. The Union also provides hands-on leadership experiences for hundreds of UW-Madison students.


Responsibilities:
Cleans facilities, removes waste and recycling, and monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours. Ensures cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas.

  • 80% Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
  • 5% Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
  • 5% Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
  • 5% Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
  • 5% Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice

Qualifications:

*Ability to work outside in inclement weather needed
-Ability to walk, stand, lift, carry, bend, stoop and climb for the majority of the shift, including extended periods of continuous physical activities with or without an accommodation.
-Past employment history of working in same position for over 6 months.


Work Schedule:

This is a part-time position for the Memorial Terrace Season.
*Based on department needs this position is expected to run until Memorial Union Terrace closes for season (estimated 10/15/2025).

Thursday-Monday
6:30am-10:30am


Work Type:

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.


Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.


Salary:

$16.50 HOURLY
