Anticipated Hiring Range: $20.50 - $23.38 hourly
Full Range: $20.50 - $32.00 hourly

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

About the Position

The Vote Center Technician provides assistance and technical support related to Voting Centers for the Maricopa County Elections Department. Leveraging knowledge of standard office equipment and software, the Vote Center Services Technician acts as a critical point of contact for board workers and other troubleshooters, coordinates schedules, provides assistance to IT staff, and assists with revising and maintaining training materials in compliance with state statutes and federal laws. During high levels of activity, this employee ensures that hotline phone systems are staffed and operational.

This position requires the employee to be in the office/field or customer-facing for all hours worked.

We Require

  • Two years of experience performing office, administrative, and clerical duties

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate

  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or experience listed above may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Two years of experience supporting election activities

  • Associate's degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field

Job Contributions

  • Create and maintain a layout of Vote Centers specific to each location for proper placement of ballot-on-demand equipment and check-in stations

  • Use inventory tracking for outgoing and incoming Vote Center equipment, conduct a post-election supply audit, and recommend quantities of supplies for reorder

  • Distribute troubleshooter and courier supplies to staff and maintain inventory of radios, badges, notebooks, tablets with scanners, and printer supplies and accounts for the return of these items

  • Coordinate the training and staffing of troubleshooters, troubleshooter techs, and ballot couriers needed for voter centers to ensure they are current on procedures prior to each election

  • Review issues that occur during the election and assist in developing a plan to minimize the occurrence of such issues in future elections

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in either an office or a warehouse setting, where loud noise may occur

  • The job may involve exerting up to 50 lbs. and requires weeks of manual lifting and moving of election equipment weighing up to 50 lbs., along with performing repetitive motions

  • A pallet jack will be used as part of the duties

  • Mandatory overtime is required during election cycles

  • Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive
