Join our dynamic team as a Psychologist with Student Counseling & Psychological Services (SCPS) at Auburn University - and be part of a vibrant university community dedicated to mental health and wellness! In this role, you will facilitate group therapy sessions, provide individual therapy, crisis intervention, psychological assessments, treatment planning, and diagnosis. You will also train and supervise practicum students and doctoral interns. Collaboration is key as you work with campus partners within Student Affairs and across the university, serving on committees to shape policies and initiatives that promote student well-being. You'll also engage in continuous professional development funded by SCPS!

A unique and heartwarming aspect of this role involves handling SCPS Animal Assisted Therapy dogs during outreach events and therapy sessions, leveraging the therapeutic benefits of animal-assisted interventions!
Essential Functions

  • Providing psychological services to students, including individual therapy, group therapy, emergency/crisis intervention, psychological assessment, treatment planning, diagnosis, and consultation with stakeholders.
  • Documenting, reporting, and maintaining confidential records and information from counseling-related services including individual therapy, group therapy, emergency/crisis intervention, consultations, and psychological assessments.
  • Evaluating and developing comprehensive treatment plans for individuals including assessment, diagnosis, coordinating treatment with other professionals, and providing community referrals when indicated.
  • Clinically supervising psychology interns and graduate practicum students; may clinically supervise unlicensed senior staff clinicians.
  • Planning, developing, and presenting outreach presentations, workshop programs, and educational seminars related to mental health issues and available services to students, staff, faculty, and other campus stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in counseling or clinical psychology from an APA-accredited academic program and having completed a doctoral internship

OR

Master's degree (or equivalent) from an APA-accredited academic program with all doctoral degree requirements completed except the dissertation. Completion of the dissertation and graduation from the doctoral program is required within 12 months of hire.

Certification or Licensure Requirements:
Must be licensed as a Psychologist in the state of Alabama within 2 years of hire.
