Senior Production Manager

As a Senior Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing operations for structural blade fabrication. position is responsible for strategic leadership, operational efficiency, and promoting continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost management.

You will lead a capable production team, optimize processes, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure that production goals align with Vestas' overall business objectives.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy



  • Develop and implement strategic production plans, focusing on efficiency, profitability, and resource optimization.
  • Create a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within production teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align production strategies with business objectives and market demands.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for production leaders and frontline employees.


Production Operations & Process Improvement



  • Oversee workflow and assembly processes, identifying efficiency gains and process improvement opportunities.
  • Manage labor allocation to ensure proper staffing levels for direct and indirect labor roles.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies to optimize performance.
  • Ensure production consistently meets safety and quality standards, while maintaining production pace.
  • Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of business systems that align with company strategies.


Financial & Cost Optimization



  • Develop and oversee the annual manufacturing budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational efficiencies without compromising quality.
  • Monitor inventory levels, ensuring just-in-time material availability while reducing excess stock.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives, including supplier negotiations, process automation, and waste reduction.


Safety, Compliance & Quality Control



  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other industry regulations for workplace safety and environmental standards.
  • Oversee proper handling, storage, disposal, and transport of hazardous materials and waste, adhering to state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate emergency response initiatives related to hazardous materials and workplace safety.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of safety protocols, audits, and compliance reports.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
  • 6+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, production, or process industries.
  • 10+ years of experience managing large-scale production teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment, highly preferred in blades.


Competencies:



  • Advanced understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze technical documents, regulatory guidelines, and business reports to make data-based decisions.
  • Demonstrated communication and cross-departmental leadership skills, allowing for effective interaction with individuals at all tiers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ERP/manufacturing software (SAP or similar).
  • Experienced in developing and executing strategic production plans, balancing business, department, and individual priorities
