Perform trailer movement according to prioritization to optimize plant or warehouse efficiencies and production needs * Hook, unhook and move trucks to and from the service department and around dock area * Spot or position loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading * Connect loaded semitrailers to tractors for the drivers * Maintain accurate trailer and inventory movement log * Follow steps to ensure proper operation and perform periodic preventive maintenance including pre and post trip inspections of equipment in the area * Perform duties required to ensure that assigned area is sanitary and clean * Wash exterior of trucks and trailers if appropriate for yard location * Complete sales route deliveries and/or over-the-road routes, as needed * Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety, DOT, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity and accidents and injuries * Attend all driver workshops and training sessions * The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required OUR YARD JOCKEY FOR THIS POSITION CAN MAKE UP TO: $23.24 per hour SCHEDULE: SUN-THUR 9PM-5:30AM BENEFITS: Union pension plan and 401(k) or 401(k) with company contribution* High School Diploma or equivalent * Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred * Must meet minimum age requirements * Meet all DOT requirements * Meet Dairy Farmers of America Motor Vehicle Record requirements * Certification and/or License - Current CDL (Class A) license in state of residence; current tanker endorsement if needed Understanding of DOT transportation regulations related to lawful operation * Able to work safely and recognize sudden hazards and adjust accordingly * Able to use computers and technology needed for the job * Skills with math sufficient to calculate load size * Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing * Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills) * Able to be proactive in seeking solutions, taking appropriate steps for problem-solving * Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork * Able to follow directions and meet deadlines * Able to interpret and apply company policies * Able to adapt and manage to change effectively * Able to perform task and duties with limited supervision * Able to follow through on day-to-day responsibilities * Able to be punctual * Must be able to read, write and speak English An Equal Opportunity Employer |
