Peri-Operative Assistant - Recovery Room - Full Time (40Hrs)/Days - Plymouth

Full-Time Benefit Eligible

Shift: Full Time - 40 Hours - Monday to Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM. No nights, weekends or holidays.

Location: Plymouth Medical Center - 40777 Ann Arbor Rd, Plymouth, MI 48170

Position Summary:

Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, the Peri-Operative Assistant (POA) provides essential service support to the peri-operative team across pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases. This position is responsible for assisting with patient transport and preparation, maintaining a clean and safe operating environment, and supporting the health care team to ensure optimal patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Intra-Operative Duties:



  • Assist Operating Room (OR) personnel with the positioning and maintenance of patient safety during surgical procedures.
  • Clean and prepare operating rooms before and after surgeries, ensuring proper disinfection and sterilization of equipment.
  • Transport patients to and from the OR in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ensure availability and proper functioning of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Adhere to all infection control policies and procedures.



Pre/Post-Operative Duties:



  • Assist the health care team under the direction of a registered nurse to provide comfort and support to patients before and after surgery.
  • Perform specific patient care duties including patient transport, hygiene support, and preparation for surgery.
  • Monitor and respond appropriately to emergent situations following established protocols.
  • Support building services including room turnover and supply management for pre/post-op areas.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:



  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in surgical services, sterile processing, patient care environment or related departments with similar skill set required. Medical Assistant and/or Nursing Assistant certification preferred.


LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS:



  • Current BLS-A Certification required or become BLS-A certified within one month of job start date.
