Exciting opportunity to join Henry Ford Health Centralized Sterile Compounding Center as a Pharmacy Manager.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Location: Detroit, Michigan

This position will report to the Director of Pharmacy, System Operations to ensure accurate, timely and safe completion of all operations for the Henry Ford Centralized Sterile Compounding Center (CSCC). The preferred candidate will have experience in sterile compounding, leading teams, optimizing workflows, quality assurance, and project development. Prior expertise with sterile compounding regulatory standards (USP 797, USP 800, etc.) and accreditation processes is required. Board certification or ASHP certification in sterile compounding is preferred at time of hire or must be completed within 6 months of employment.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:



  • Ensure CSCC operations follow USP 797, USP 800, and other regulatory standards related to sterile compounding, and are in accordance with State, Federal, accrediting agency and OSHA regulations.
  • Lead a team responsible for meeting and maintaining sterile compounding productivity and quality standards.
  • Manage daily sterile compounding operations.
  • Ensure all products are compounded in accordance with state and federal guidelines, all individual lot production records are completed accurately, and are stored in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate initial and continuous sterile compounding technician and pharmacist training in accordance with State, Federal and accrediting organization regulations and ensure ongoing competency on use of pharmacy software and compounding equipment.
  • Maintain compounding space and equipment as set forth in policies and procedures. Ensure required compliance documentation is accurate and retained in accordance with regulatory and legal standards.
  • Establish polices, standard operating procedures (SOP) and workflows related to sterile compounding in a new state of the art facility. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of on-going staff competencies and supporting documentation.
  • Evaluate and advise on sterile compounding related regulations, laws, and professional standards to ensure best practice for CSCC operations and facilities. Modify polices, SOPs, workflows, and or the facility to remain compliance
  • Collaborate with CPSC warehouse operations to ensure the safe delivery of products, to or from the CSCC, while maintaining state and federal regulatory standards.
  • Establish a standard formulary for the CSCC and a formal procedure for CSCC formulary additions or deletions.
  • Lead a sterile compounding governance committee dedicated to overseeing products produced by the CSCC.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • Must have obtained an advanced degree (Pharm.D. or equivalent), completed a residency program approved by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, a fellowship in pharmacy, or have demonstrated a similar level of achievement in the practice of hospital pharmacy.
  • Must demonstrate leadership ability in working with and coordinating activities of others in developing improved pharmacy services.
  • Must demonstrate verbal and written communication skills which enable him/her to contribute effectively in the dissemination of information to all levels of health care personnel in the institution. He/she should likewise demonstrate a desire to contribute to the pharmaceutical literature.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of progressive hospital pharmacy practice.
  • Must have a previous work history of reliability, dependability, and a willingness to assume additional responsibility.
  • Must be able to work with pharmacy students at all levels.
  • Should have completed research which demonstrates originality and investigative ability in an area of administrative and/or clinical pharmacy practice. The work should be suitable for publication in the pharmaceutical or medical literature.


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:



  • Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Michigan. Should be Board Certified in his/her area of specialty practice.
