The RF Engineer I will serve as primary technical point of contact for a full range of US DoD products, systems, and services. This individual will research, plan, analyze and test a variety of RF equipment and systems, including amplifiers, radios, sensors, processors, interface units and other RF and electronic devices. For designs that utilize radio frequency (RF) this individual will participate in engineering development, prototyping, design verification, and transition to production. Position Responsibilities: * Develop and implement test plans, procedures, and fixtures. Provide design, development, and testing expertise relative to RF engineering principles on new engineering designs. * Generate and implement improvements in RF test throughput and product design * Provide electronic design, development, and troubleshooting support for the test systems on the production floor. * Work cross-functionally across the organization (program management, procurement, operations, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, test, production, business development, contracts) * Interface directly with customers and suppliers to support technical issues * Research and apply RF and electrical engineering principles and theories to solve internal and customer problems * Support full program life cycles (concept, specification, prototype, production, sustainment) * Participate in design processes using established design and development process models (CMMI, Six Sigma for Design, or equivalent) * Create, review, approve Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Requests for Variances (RFVs) * Support systems engineering, software engineering, and mechanical engineering efforts * Create and update corporate and engineering processes and procedures * Performs other duties as assigned to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of this organization. Skills & Abilities: * Experience in RF communications systems design and analyses (e.g. link margin, system performance and reliability analyses) * Practical experience with antennas, power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, receivers, propagation, attenuation and associated effects on RF communications system performance and reliability * Practical experience in modern wireless and wireline telecommunications protocols and signal processing * Knowledge and practical experience in wireless communications signal processing including the following areas: modulation and demodulation and 2G, 3G and 4G wireless standards/protocols (e.g. GSM, GPRS, CDMA, WCDMA, LTE) * Knowledge of various types of electronic circuits including: microcontroller/ microprocessor/ microcomputer, embedded design, A/D and D/A conversion, analog signal processing, digital circuits, power regulation, AC/DC and DC/AC conversion, etc. * Ability to review physical design, electronic schematics and PCB layouts of new products, preferably in the military market * Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and test reviews * Work with more senior level Electrical Engineers to develop and implement test plans, procedures, and fixtures * Military product design experience helpful, but not necessary * Schematic capture - desired tool Altium Designer * Strong technical writing, verbal communication skills, and self-motivated Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science degree from a 4 year accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related field. * Ability to obtain/maintain a Department of Defense security clearance. Work Environment: * Office Environment: Requires physical capability to work in an office environment including sitting/standing up to 9 hours a day and use basic office tools such as a computer, copier/printer, etc. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Hours: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Thursday; Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM with additional hours as needed to meet demand.
