Description

TRISTAR is seeking a Senior Systems & Network Administrator for our upcoming government customer in Bloomington, IN

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems and Network Administrator to join our team
  • Have a strong background in Microsoft Server Administration, Linux Server Administration, network administration, and troubleshooting
  • Involves managing and maintaining complex IT environments, implementing cutting-edge technologies, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure seamless system integration and operational excellence

Position Responsibilities:

  • Server Administration:
  • Perform configuration, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, and support for Microsoft Server 2019/2022, Windows 10/11, Red Hat Linux, and VMware environments
  • Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, and server features such as Hyper-V, NPS, KMS, CA Server, Containerization, and Docker
  • Network Administration:
  • Perform network administration tasks including adding/configuring network devices, managing routers, switches, VPNs, VLANs, and network segmentation
  • Deploy new firewalls, switches, network devices, and connections
  • Troubleshoot network issues such as outages, latency problems, and connectivity challenges
  • Evaluate network security controls and implement improvements
  • System Automation & Scripting:
  • Develop PowerShell scripts for system administration tasks to improve efficiency and automate processes
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery:
  • Implement and manage data backup solutions and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity
  • Software & System Upgrades:
  • Manage software release cycles, system upgrades, evaluation/installation of patches, and resolution of software-related issues
  • Technical Problem Solving:
  • Identify, research, and resolve technical problems related to Windows Desktop/Server environments, Linux systems, and networking technologies
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with the Program Office to discuss the software baseline's impact on releases and incorporate future technologies into the system architecture
  • Adapt to changing schedules while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives
Requirements
  • 5+ years of Microsoft Server Administration experience
  • 3+ years of Linux Server Administration experience
  • 2+ years of recent VMware administration experience
  • 2+ years of recent network administration experience
  • Significant troubleshooting experience (5+ years)
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of networking technologies (TCP/IP routing/subnetting) and WAN communications
  • Expertise in Windows Desktop/Server troubleshooting support as well as Linux systems troubleshooting support
  • Hands-on experience with VMware administration (vSphere/vCenter)
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation tasks
  • Networking Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with managing routers/switches from major vendors (e.g., Cisco/Juniper)
  • Experience with VPNs, VLANs, network segmentation techniques, and deploying firewalls/network devices
  • Additional Skills:
  • Background in hardware systems is a plus
  • Knowledge of CAC2S (Common Aviation Command & Control System) is highly desirable
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes quickly
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with stakeholders at all levels
  • Adaptability to dynamic schedules or project priorities
  • A proactive approach to learning new technologies and implementing innovative solutions
  • Ability to travel up to 10% or less
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • An Active Secret Clearance is required or the ability to obtain one

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading technology initiatives or integrating future technologies into existing baselines is a plus
  • Ability to foresee technological advancements that could enhance the software baseline or operational workflows

Education and Certification:

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar degree
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a CompTIA Security Plus certification prior to starting
