Fraud Prevention & Compliance Coordinator

The Fraud Prevention and Compliance Coordinator will play a critical role in safeguarding the university from identity theft, financial aid fraud, and abuse. This position is tasked with preventing, detecting, monitoring, and accurately reporting related issues to the Associate Director of Fraud Prevention and Compliance. The Fraud Prevention and Compliance Coordinator will assist in analyzing trends and incidents, to mitigate risks of identity theft, financial aid fraud, and abuse. Additionally, this role ensures adherence to university regulations and policies, supporting the institution's overall compliance efforts.

Responsibilities:



  • Works cross-functionally with various departments to resolve identity-related issues and other concerns, supporting organizational goals and ensuring a seamless customer experience.
  • Oversee student communications and promptly resolve disputes related to identity theft or fraud concerns.
  • Compiles and summarizes information for internal reporting and review.
  • Offers guidance and recommendations to the Associate Director of Fraud Prevention and Compliance for improving processes related to fraud and abuse.
  • Supports the University's Identity Theft Prevention Program, including identifying risk factors, detecting potential fraudulent students, and addressing instances of abuse.
  • Implements and maintains fraud prevention programs and policies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into reported or suspected fraud cases to determine validity and appropriate action.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to the Associate Director of Fraud Prevention and Compliance.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and maintain organized documentation of all fraud-related cases and prevention efforts.
  • Performs other duties and assists with special projects as assigned by department leadership


Per the US Department of Education Program Integrity Rules, postsecondary institutions that participate in the student financial assistance programs pursuant to Title IV of the Higher Education Act (HEA) are barred from providing incentive payments to any person or entity engaged in student recruiting and/or admissions activities.

Reporting Relationships:

The Fraud Prevention and Compliance Coordinator will report to the Associate Director of Fraud Prevention and Compliance and has no direct reports.

Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Will consider candidates without Bachelor's degree with requisite college and/or professional experience.
  • Proficient in excel with an understanding of data analytics
  • Ability to analyze and interpret trends
  • Good written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
  • 1-2 years of experience in fraud detection, investigation or analysis, preferably within the

    education industry.



  • Knowledge of regulations governing the education sector.



  • Understanding of fraud detection methodologies and technologies.



  • Ability to analyze and document fraud detection processes and requirements.



  • Demonstrated analytical skills, including ability to document findings to support account reviews and preparing reports on fraud trends and incidents.
