Primary Purpose of the Organization:
The Office of International Education's purpose is to work with other FSU units to produce global citizens and leaders who are change agents who sharpen the state's future by promoting the core student learning outcomes of Global literacy, ethics, and Civic Engagement. We develop and promote global perspectives through engagement in the international arena and provide a regional resource for global initiatives.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative office support to the Office of International Education.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:


  • Administrative Support: Oversee, Manage, and Coordinate the Study Away Program (within the U.S.) and the National Student Exchange Program (NSE). Provide administrative support for the department, including, but not limited to, answering phones, preparing travel, serving as the first point of contact within the department, managing calendars, providing customer services, drafting correspondence, arranging meetings, and uploading documents via Adobe Sign and other job duties.

  • Budget/Procurement: Monitor and reconcile unit budgets, track travel and office expenditures, and manage the department's inventory and procurement process.

  • Department Support/Records Management: Managing the immigration records of international students at an educational institution, advising them on maintaining their legal status in the U.S., and ensuring compliance with federal regulations regarding student visas by updating and maintaining student records within the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) database. Serve as the DSO/International Student Advisor to issue I-20s as the Departmental DSO for Homeland Security and USCIS-Cross-train on SEVIS and other related job duties.

This position has been designated as Time - Limited, continuation of position is contingent upon the continuing availability of non-state funds.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Proficient use of office software such as the MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of the Navigate Banner Finance System and 25Live.
  • Ability to design Excel spreadsheets, create forms using Excel, and extract data from the Banner System to develop reports.
  • Knowledge of standard policies, practices, and guidelines for office operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and decision-making ability to handle inquiries and make appropriate referrals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of various software packages such as Adobe, Microsoft Suite, Xtender document management, and Ingeniux software.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, two or more years of secretarial or clerical/administrative and office management experience.
