MaineHealth is currently seeking a Lead Infection Prevention Specialist to join the system wide infection control team. The ideal candidatewill have a minimum of 5 years relevant experiencein a health-related field (Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Epidemiology).

This position requires aCertification by the Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) required.

Summary:

The Lead Infection Prevention Specialist supports onboarding and training of new Infection Preventionists across MaineHealth, coordinates system infection control policy management, supports systemwide quality improvement efforts, and serves as the primary contact for regulatory agencies. The Lead will monitors and respond to Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) and communicable infections by conducting surveillance, tracking cases, ensuring adequate isolation precautions, investigating suspected outbreaks, and helping develop and implement action plans to prevent and control infections.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education:Associate's Degree in a health-related field (Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Epidemiology) required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • License/Certifications:Certification by the Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) required.
  • Experience:Associate's Degree will require eight years of relevant experience. Bachelor's Degree will require five years of relevant experience. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of an Infection Prevention Specialist II.
