Description The Paint Assistant plays a crucial role in the Paint Department, providing support in the preparation and finishing processes required for high-quality paint applications on New Flyer transit buses. This position involves working closely with experienced painters to develop skills and expertise in paint application techniques, ensuring a premium finish for each vehicle. Assist with the cleaning, prepping, and masking of buses prior to paint application. Utilize tools and equipment such as spray guns, sanders, and buffers to assist in the painting process. Support painters by mixing paints and coatings according to specifications. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all safety protocols and guidelines are followed. Learn and apply techniques for quality control checks on paint finishes. Participate in training sessions to acquire knowledge of materials and processes used in the painting industry. Assist with the touch-up of painted surfaces as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Paint Supervisor or management. Requirements Some previous experience in a manufacturing or paint related environment is an asset, but not required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills. Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle repetitive tasks. Must be able to adhere to safety practices and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
