Position Title: Student Assistant

Department Name: School of Undergraduate Studies

Position Reports To: Associate Dean, School of Undergraduate Studies

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Hourly Rate: $17- $18.07

Benefits: Limited University's benefits


Days & Hours: Variable weekly schedule to be established by supervisor. Flexible schedule may require evening and weekend hours during peak periods.

BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF JOB:

Provide administrative, clerical and occasional technical support for the School of Undergraduate Studies office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.




  • On-site late afternoon/early evening administrative duties
  • Provide knowledgeable and courteous response and follow-up to all inquiries via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Update data accurately in department databases/systems.
  • Perform administrative duties such as making copies, reviewing/editing documents, checking course schedules, assisting with mailings, data entry, duplicating and filing (both paper and electronic files).
  • Assist with syllabus processing and book requests as needed
  • Provide clerical support to faculty, proctor exams, assist staff with automated procedures and reporting and other special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education requirement:

    • Associate degree or equivalent required. Open to undergraduate or graduate students at GGU.


  • Years of experience:

    • Five to seven years of experience. Experience in an educational setting a plus.


  • Knowledge of:

    • General office computer skills, including fluency in MS Office (Word, Excel, OneDrive). General record keeping and data management practices.


  • Skills and abilities:

    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and other individuals providing excellent customer service.
    • Explain department and university policies and procedures accurately.
    • Learn quickly and handle multiple tasks.
    • Must be comfortable working independently and learning to use a variety of software applications including SharePoint.
