THE POSITION

The Department of General Services is currently searching for a Clerical Assistant 2 for a position in the Bureau of Vehicle Management. This position is responsible for timely and accurate data management of the vehicle inventory of the Commonwealths fleet.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides clerical and office support within the division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The Clerical Assistant 2 must have a working knowledge of various billings and reports generated by the Records and Reports section that supports the overall function of the Bureau of Vehicle Management and Commonwealth agencies.

Additional duties of this position include entering inventory information for new vehicles and special equipment purchases, such as the vehicle specifications, assignment date, driver information, purchase and operating account codes, etc., into the Bureau's fleet management database. Assigning equipment numbers to new vehicles based on size and make of vehicle. Update purchase orders, equipment number, and various other excel workbooks on the shared drive and fleet management database. Maintain and update passenger vehicle assignments, disposition, commercial, or special equipment on excel spreadsheets. Process automotive titles, registrations, salvage certifications, licenses, and other vehicle identification forms for cars and trucks in the Commonwealth fleet and for State and Federal Surplus equipment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 7:30am to 3:30pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after 6 months of employment based on performance. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
