Overview

Pharming is seeking to hire a Manager, Legal Operations to support our growing legal team. Our goal is for this role to oversee the Legal Department's operational and administrative functions, including technology implementation, budget management, (operational/administrative) outside counsel / vendor management, and departmental process improvements. This role will collaborate closely with other functions including Finance, Compliance, and Marketing to streamline workflows and enhance the effectiveness of the legal function. The Manager, Legal Operations will also serve as a subject matter expert on Pharming's contract lifecycle management (CLM) system and oversee the contract review process. Successful execution will involve handling key responsibilities with minimal supervision and possessing strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. This is a hybrid role - must be able to report to the Warren, NJ office, 2 to 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

The Manager, Legal Operations will be responsible for a wide variety of matters in support of Pharming's growth:

Core functions include:




  • Financial and Vendor Management:

    • Manage the Legal Department's budget, including by tracking spend, managing accruals, creating and processing POs, and reviewing invoices.
    • Optimize outside counsel and vendor relationships by negotiating rates, tracking legal spend, identifying opportunities for cost savings, and implementing agreed-upon strategies.
    • Serve as primary contact for legal vendors and outside counsel on all billing-related matters and other administrative or technical questions that may arise.


  • Contract Support:

    • Oversee contract review process including by facilitating the contract intake process, assigning contracts for legal review, and ensuring all necessary approvals and signatures are obtained.
    • Assist in Pharming's ongoing transition to a new CLM system by advising on configuration and design, partnering with US and global colleagues to provide company-wide training on the CLM, and helping to ensure business continuity throughout the transition.
    • Act as primary point of contact for questions relating to the CLM and related templates and processes. Train internal teams on the system and contract review process.
    • Support in the development and implementation of various contract templates.


  • Other Legal and Risk Management Support:

    • Maintain a centralized system for document management and tracking legal issues and engagements.
    • Provide ad-hoc support with legal priorities including corporate governance, litigation support, employment and intellectual property matters.
    • Work with vendor to maintain state authorizations to do business and manufacturers licenses; assist with related audits.
    • Collaborate with Human Resources and other departments, as needed, to prepare responses to garnishments and subpoenas.
    • Provide other support to the Legal Department, as needed.





Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 5+ years of experience in legal operations, corporate legal department, or other related roles.
  • Skilled in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint & Teams)
  • Experience with legal technology, including contract lifecycle management systems and e-billing systems.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industries.
  • Experience in process improvement, project management, or financial oversight within a legal department.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple projects, and collaborate across teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.



Salary Range

Pharming takes into consideration a combination of candidate's work experience, training, and education, as well as the scope of the role, complexity, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level.

The base salary range for this job is from $105,000 - $117,000 per year.
