Learning & Development Specialist

As a Learning & Development Specialist, you will provide performance consultation to business units/departments, aligning training and development activities to meet both short-term needs and long-term resource planning objectives. You will maintain training systems in compliance with customer, regulatory, quality and internal requirements.

What you'll do:



  • Consult with and support business units/departments and Human Resources to identify, plan and implement resource selection, training and development requirements as driven by the strategic performance needs of the organization.
  • In consultation with customers, managers and specialists, defines performance requirements and standards, conducts training needs assessments & gap analysis that identify training and development needs.
  • Meet with business process owners on training and reference material related matters.
  • Curriculum Development - Researches, designs, implements and maintains standardized, comprehensive training and development programs and documentation based on identified organizational and affiliate needs
  • Presents training to all levels within the organization or externally to customers employing delivery methodologies such as instructor led, e-learning, virtual etc.
  • Negotiates training programs, sources materials and delivery methods.
  • Performs or supports the efforts of others to design, develop and instruct curricula (classroom or on-the-job) utilizing instructional design techniques, including use of learning objectives, lesson plans, teaching aids and learning assessment materials.
  • Analyzes performance measures in order to identify training opportunities and to assess the impact of training.
  • Develops and implements evaluation, validation or cost benefit analysis of training and sets training performance goals.
  • Maintains a training inventory, schedule courses, develops course outlines, manuals, training aids and documentation.
  • Identifies, develops and monitors resources required to assist in the classroom and/or on-the-job training process.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carries out other duties and special projects as assigned.


Position Requirements:



  • Thorough knowledge and experience with the instructional design process, principles and adult learning theories.
  • Thorough subject knowledge of learning activities being developed/delivered and of related/supporting topics.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
  • Working knowledge of industry regulatory requirements, quality standards and administrative policies and procedures applicable to training and development.
  • Bachelor's degree in a field of instruction emphasizing adult learning/education, Organization Behavior, or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 3 years experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of the following:

    • Jet Engine MRO (maintenance, repair & overhaul) work scopes
    • LRU (line replaceable unit) services, component repair services, I and O level repairs, government & military services, and commercial product services.

  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
