Growing metal fabrication shop is looking for a Quality Control Specialist to join their team. This is a temporary to hire opportunity. The ideal candidate will have experience working with suppliers, managing quality control processes, and assisting with new program launches. This role is crucial for ensuring that our suppliers meet the highest quality standards and will involve developing solutions to problems and improving processes across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Work with suppliers to ensure product quality meets internal and customer specifications.
  • Support and lead the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process, including PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation, ensuring new product launches meet quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term corrective actions to address supplier quality issues, ensuring root cause analysis is completed.
  • Provide support to the production floor in addressing any supplier-related issues and ensure timely resolution of quality problems.
  • Support the development of new supplier relationships and provide guidance on quality standards and performance expectations.
  • Participate in and contribute to quality audits, supplier assessments, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Utilize data to track supplier performance and recommend improvements or corrective actions as necessary.


Qualifications:



  • Experience: A few years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, or equivalent in a related quality control or manufacturing role. Experience in APQP, PPAP, and new program launches is a plus.
  • Education: Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Quality or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills:


    • Strong problem-solving abilities, with experience in developing countermeasures to address supplier issues on the plant floor.
    • Solid understanding of quality standards, manufacturing processes, and supplier management.
    • Proficiency in APQP and PPAP processes.
    • Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
    • Strong communication skills, with fluency in Spanish being a significant advantage.


  • Other Requirements:


    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and manage cross-functional relationships.
    • Willingness to take ownership and drive results.
    • Stability in past employment, demonstrating a commitment to roles over time.



Preferred Experience/Skills:



  • Experience with plant floor problem-solving and supplier issue resolution.
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), control plans, and statistical analysis tools.
