The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Construction Inspector III for power utility construction projects throughout the US. The Construction Inspector III will serve as a client embedded Field Observer responsible for managing the inventorying, verification, and delivery of miscellaneous materials, as well as coordinating material deliveries, in support of large-scale capital electrical utility projects.

What You'll Do

The Construction Inspector III will report directly to an Ulteig resource manager and will work in support of a client Construction Management Office Lead. The incumbent will be part of a team that inspects, inventories, documents, and delivers materials for power utility construction projects in accordance with the owner's requirements and contract documents and assists in on-site resolution of construction material related issues as they are identified. This will require coordination with engineering, procurement, and project management teams as needed. This position is a mix of mostly field and remote-based work, with a large component of the job being performed in a company provided truck or field office trailer.



  • Track and report project material delivery status & location to project teams, the PMO, and/or the CMO
  • Work closely with the owner, project management team, contractor management team, engineer, and field staff (Owners & Contracted)
  • Occasionally assist project staff in their duties
  • Track and report project / construction progress and status on an as-needed basis
  • Inventory materials ahead of, and during, construction projects and check those materials against bill of material sheets for any items missing/unaccounted for
  • Work with field crews and procurement staff to ensure adequate materials are provided for the successful & timely completion of projects
  • Deliver materials from laydown/storage locations to job sites and/or other laydown/storage locations



What We Expect from You



  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering or Construction Management or a minimum of 4 years of relevant Field Experience
  • 5+ years of related experience required
  • Experience working with electrical utility and/or renewable energy projects, preferably utility scale
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision of day-to-day tasks
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, bills of material, and construction specifications/manuals
  • Ability to read and understand construction and procurement contracts
  • Ability to read and understand project schedules and Gantt charts
  • Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6, and SAP is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict negotiation/resolution and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with owners' representatives, contractors, vendors, and others on and off the job site
  • Ability to work approximately 75% in the field including the occasional night, weekends, and more than 40 hours per week
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs off the ground
  • Must have a valid driver's license with no restrictions, experience driving a trailer is preferred.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $82,900 - $112,100
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
