Position Summary

We are seeking a Project Management Intern to support the Manufacturing Management Team in the development of a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) encompassing three operational sites: Tacoma, WA, Decatur, AL, and Spartanburg, SC. This is a hands-on internship that offers exposure to project management methodologies, risk assessment, data analysis, and strategic planning within a manufacturing environment.

The intern will contribute to key project milestones, including Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Risk Assessment, Plan Development, Testing, and Implementation, while gaining practical experience in business continuity and crisis management.

This role is ideal for students or recent graduates pursuing a degree or certificate in Project Management, Engineering, Data Analysis, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields, looking to develop real-world experience in business resilience and operational risk management.

Project Support & Coordination



  • Assist in tracking and managing project milestones for the Business Continuity Plan (BCP), ensuring alignment with the phased implementation across three locations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site leads to schedule meetings, update project timelines, and document key discussions.
  • Support cross-functional teams in collecting, analyzing, and summarizing critical business function dependencies for BIA.
  • Participate in risk assessment activities, helping to identify and prioritize potential operational, IT, and supply chain risks.


Data Analysis & Documentation



  • Gather and analyze data related to business continuity risks, downtime impacts, and resource requirements.
  • Assist in developing key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor BCP implementation progress.
  • Draft reports, presentations, and process documentation based on project findings.
  • Use data visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.) to present trends, risk scenarios, and contingency strategies.


Testing & Training Support



  • Assist in coordinating BCP tabletop exercises and live simulations across the three locations.
  • Document findings from continuity testing sessions and help identify gaps or areas for improvement.
  • Support the development of employee training materials, ensuring teams are well-prepared for crisis scenarios.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining business continuity communication channels (emergency contact lists, response protocols).


Stakeholder Communication & Engagement



  • Work with site leaders and key stakeholders to ensure data collection and project updates are timely.
  • Assist in organizing workshops, meetings, and training sessions related to BCP awareness and implementation.
  • Support senior project managers in creating executive reports to communicate project status and risk mitigation strategies.


Skills & Specifications



  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a structured environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook); familiarity with project management tools (Asana, Trello, Jira, MS Project) is a plus.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex information clearly.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and business continuity principles is desirable but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset.


Education & Qualifications



  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Analysis, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Coursework or experience in project management, risk analysis, business continuity, or crisis management is a plus.
  • Previous internship or work experience in a corporate, manufacturing, or project management setting is beneficial but not required.
