Responsible for assuring that supplies, equipment, and all materials are properly receipted and distributed on a daily basis.
Delivers supplies and equipment to the user departments in an efficient and timely manner. Job Summary Under general supervision by Surgical Director and co-director, his/her primary role is to ensure efficient clinical operations in the office based clinical environment through management of 6 exam rooms including adequate availability and functioning of laser and specialized voice technology, and supplies. Responsible for efficient turnover of rooms between patients, patient interaction and comforting dialogue while maintaining safe patient care areas. Qualifications Directly related experience especially in assisting with surgical procedures Possess technical skills to prepare and make available medical diagnostic and treatment equipment. Associate degree preferred, preferably in health care medical and or technical related program Ability to communicate and comfort patients undergoing diagnostic procedures Past experience as a medical or technical assistant preferably in a hospital or busy physicians practice Responsibilities (not sure if they need this) 1. Reviews information on scheduled patients prior to clinical sessions to determine which specialized upper airway and laryngeal instruments and/or equipment will be needed for performing diagnostic and/or outpatient treatment procedures for each patient. 2. Sets up clinical rooms prior to each patient visit with all needed specialized instruments and equipment for diagnostic testing and outpatient treatment procedures of the upper airway and/or larynx. 3. Performs daily testing and routine maintenance of all specialized instruments and equipment used for diagnostic testing and outpatient treatment of upper airway and larynx disorders. 4. Coordinates the placement of patients into clinical rooms that have been specifically equipped for the diagnostic assessment and/or treatment needs of each individual patient. 5. Closely assists surgeons with specialized outpatient laser equipment, Botox administration, laryngeal EMG and vocal fold injection procedures. Participation includes patient preparation and positioning, set up and operation of suction equipment, set up of laser or EMG equipment, and preparation of injection delivery systems, passing instruments to the surgeon, intra-procedure patient monitoring, and post-procedure patient care. 6. Under supervision of physician, disinfects, replenishes, and secures topical anesthetics. 7. Schedules and coordinates routine manufacturer servicing of specialized clinical equipment. 8. Recognizes and corrects technical problems that might arise with specialized clinical equipment. Interfaces with technicians at equipment manufacturers to resolve such problems. 9. Coordinates the repair of specialized clinical equipment that must be sent back to manufacturers to be fixed including sound packaging and follow-up. 10. Performs cleaning and sterilization of all specialized clinical equipment including autoclaving of surgical hand instruments, use of CIDEX OPA to sterilize transoral and trannasal endoscopes, and use of a Steris system to process and sterilize transnasal (distal chip camera) endoscopes that have instrument channels for performing outpatient procedures. 11. Keeps track of clinical supply inventories and coordinates the ordering of replacement supply items by the appropriate office support staff in a timely fashion. 12. Responsible for the flow of patients through the outpatient clinic including taking vital signs, weight, and basic intake information. 13. Oversees safety procedures for the use of lasers in outpatient treatments, including the use of eye protection for clinicians and patients, documentation of laser treatment parameters, and appropriate use of other laser-related safety gear (plume filters on suction, etc.). 14. Reads, understands, and annually reviews all Voice Centers unit, and institutional policies and procedures relating to the performance of the duties and responsibilities of the Voice Clinical and Technical Support Specialist. 15. Effectively engages patient in the testing process with clear explanations and reassurances of success and reward. 16.
