Data Governance Manager

Watlow is looking for a Data Governance Manager to oversee the governance and quality management of our enterprise data assets. The successful candidate will define and manage our data governance framework, define data quality standards, and implement governance processes. This role is crucial in establishing a data-driven culture where master data is trusted, and data stewardship aligns with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Champion our data governance framework aligned by driving the adoption of data governance and best practices.
  • Support the current data migration project from legacy systems to Oracle Fusion, ensure data governance processes are integrated into Program SDLC, cutover, hyper care and managed services activities.
  • Lead data governance initiatives, including data classification, master data management, data lifecycle management, and metadata management across all ERP and CRM systems.
  • Conduct data governance assessments to evaluate data governance metrics and effectiveness, mitigate risks, and identify improvement areas.
  • Work with business stakeholders to update and maintain data governance resources and support proper usage of data assets, including an enterprise business glossary and data catalog; coordinate and manage activities across data stewardship roles using well-defined and repeatable processes.
  • Improve overall enterprise data quality and reliability through process improvement, conducting data audits, and establishing data metrics to track the success of the governance program.
  • Drive firm-wide data literacy initiatives by delivering training sessions on data governance concepts, data stewardship responsibilities, general data usage guidelines, and analytical capabilities.


Required Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data analysis, management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable Managerial level experience in data governance and data management domains such as data quality, reference data management, metadata management, etc.
  • Experience in change Management, change adoption within the context of data quality programs and data profiling, data cleansing and data remediation techniques
  • Strong communication skillsets and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams supporting strategic business transformation projects
  • Experience in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Strong understanding of data management best practices (e.g. metadata management, data lineage, data quality controls).
  • Expertise in SQL for querying and creating data validation scripts; familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and cloud-based data solutions and data governance tools (e.g. Collibra, Azure Purview).
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive incremental change.
  • Data privacy regulations, metadata management, data catalogs, data lineage, and data classification.


Additional Preferred Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of Oracle cloud ERP, Azure Cloud, Azure Synapse, Databricks, and or Snowflake, Microsoft Purview
  • Relevant certifications in data governance or data management (e.g., CDMP, CIPP, GSP).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Understanding of Python, R, JSON/XML, and other data analytical methods and languages.
  • Knowledge of data integration, data storage, and data modeling best practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with legal industry data practices and regulations.
