Sr. Bench Mechanic

Work with general supervision, plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products by performing the following duties with minimal supervision and more complex jobs, such as can rout complex parts to final periphery requirements.

Job Summary

• Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
• Performs all deburring operations.
• Strip remaining maskant and silstic from finished chem mill parts.
• Removes burrs and sharp edges by use of various hand tools and materials such as files and edge breakers.
  
• Smoothes edges and removes build ups with air or electric equipment using abrasive disk and sleeves.
  
• Operates burring equipment using countersink, grinding wheels, burring rolls, bench grinders, rotary files, drill presses and jitterbug.
• Control thickness by using ultrasonic gages and micrometers calipers,, scales to work to close tolerances +/-.002.
• Occasionally assist Lead with work flow process.
• Assist in training General Helpers and Trainees.
• Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned including leading projects and participation in project committees.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend instructions such as blue prints and shop drawings, chem. mill templates with an emphasis on chemical milling features, excess and special conditions.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must be able to comply with specific safety policies.
• Read and understand internal procedures and policies.
• Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions.
• Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
• Basic Computer Skills - able to learn new screens, reports, functions, and simple software programs with assistance.

Required Experience and Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 + years of experience and able to train/teach how to perform essential functions of the job.

Base Compensation: USD 18.00 - 24.00 Paid Hourly
