Summary:
Under direction of the Program Director and the Director of Training and Education, the Community Residence Counselor (CRC) provides direct patient care and participates in therapeutic milieu within the scope of defined practice. The McLean Hospital Behavioral Health Partial Hospitalization Program (BHP) offers short-term, intensive day treatment for adults (ages 18+) with a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including mood and anxiety disorders, depression, personality disorders, bipolar spectrum disorders, and thought disorders. Essential Functions: - Provides direct patient care in accordance with current treatment plan, under the supervision of the Program Director and multidisciplinary treatment team -Provides and supervises community activities according to needs. -This may include driving & transporting patients to and from activities in hospital vehicles. -Remains awake and alert, at all times, while on the job. -Assists patients in maintaining and keeping various appointments. -Clear, concise, and timely documentation and shift notes. -Establishes relationships with patients that are helpful and maintains professional boundaries. -Participates in patient rounds, status checks, or teams per program guidelines. -Completes assigned patient care tasks per program guidelines and/or daily assignment sheet. -Works effectively to manage the therapeutic milieu. -Provides patients with direction and supervision as needed. -Follows established hospital & program policies, procedures, and protocols. -Communicates information regarding patient milieu/therapeutic environment to appropriate staff in a timely manner. -Communicates observations related to medication side effects, physical and emotional changes to appropriate medical staff in a timely manner. -Encourage patients in their activities of daily living. -Assesses sleep patterns and assists patients to develop more appropriate sleep cycles notifying clinical team as necessary. -Completes mandatory annual in-service requirements, including but not limited to: CPR and de-escalation. -Attends and participates in rounds and case conferences when appropriate. -Physical ability for participation in patient activities. -Other duties as assigned.
