Stony Brook University: Health Sciences: Renaissance School of Medicine: Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Location Suffolk County, New York Open Date Feb 28, 2025 Deadline Mar 28, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description Stony Brook University is undergoing significant growth, and our outpatient Psychiatry program is expanding to meet the increasing demand for psychiatric care for young adults and pediatric patients in the community. We are seeking individuals who are eager to embrace the challenge and satisfaction of working with a dynamic team of clinicians, educators, and researchers. The Clinical Assistant Professor will serve as an Attending Psychiatrist providing care to children, adolescents and young adults in need of both urgent and routine care. Primary responsibilities will include conducting psychiatric evaluations for individuals presenting in immediate psychiatric distress, as well as routine psychiatric evaluations. The role also involves managing short-term treatment interventions, offering school consultations, delivering professional development for school personnel, and acting as a liaison between the clinic, community, and local school districts. Additionally, this position will play a critical role in integrating education and clinical care for young adult and pediatric patients. Key responsibilities include:
Schedule: Full-time position, totaling 40 hours per week with cross-coverage responsibilities as needed. The anticipated schedule allows for approximately 80% of the time dedicated to clinical care, and 20% liaising with schools, communities and families. The position is Monday through Friday with varying hours during the day shift. The position requires local travel between locations, some on the East End of Long Island, and some hours can be conducted remotely. Some urgent or emergent evaluations will be conducted virtually during scheduled shifts.
