GENERAL SUMMARY:

Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Performs all types of diagnostic x-ray procedures to include radiography of chest, extremities, skull and sinus, spine, ankle and foot, and abdomen. Practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.

3. *Uses sterile technique as required.

4. *Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.

5. *Competently operates all diagnostic x-ray equipment and support systems to include, EMR, PACS and teleradiology.

6. *Utilizes department computer systems, files, EMR and PACS to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.

7. *Properly cares for and images patients of all ages and maintains patient confidentiality.

8. *Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.

9. *Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.

10. Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as assigned.

11. *Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems.

12. *Keeps work area properly supplied.

13. *Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Currently enrolled in an accredited school of radiologic technology required. Valid Temporary State Medical Radiographer license required.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(DOT) - Characterized as medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
