College COACH Summer Internship: Plastic and Oral Surgery Intern

The opportunity

The College COACH summer internship is a paid program running from Monday, June 9-Friday, August 8, 2025. In addition to on-the-job training and work experience, the program includes workshops and additional development programs. College students will work 35 hours/week.

The intern will work with the clinical research team in the Department of Plastic Oral Surgery. This will include a combination of on-site and remote work.

What you'll do

Responsibilities will include assisting with various research team needs. This may include:

  • Collecting data from Epic/Powerchart.

  • Entering data into Redcap; mailing surveys and entering them in Redcap

  • Filing surveys and consent forms

  • Collecting samples from the operating room and delivering them to collaborating laboratories

  • Shadowing clinical researchers during clinics and/or sample collection

  • Shadowing clinical providers in the operating room and/or clinic

  • This position is Hybrid.

What you'll get

  • Interns will learn how to work collaboratively with staff from various disciplines (research, clinical, administrative) to accomplish different tasks.

  • Learn the importance of detail orientation when collecting data and where to find basic patient information in the medical record.

  • Become familiar with the informed consent process and how to interact with patients for clinical research studies.

Recruitment process

  • Internship opportunities: We aim to have all summer internship opportunities posted by February 28. They will be posted on a rolling basis as managers determine their availability to host an intern.

  • Resume review & interviews: Applications will be screened, forwarded to managers as appropriate, and interviews will be scheduled.

  • Offer decision: We will follow up within one week of your interview.

  • Onboarding: Those selected for the internship program will complete onboarding by May to ensure a smooth start to the program.
