Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Perform DXA scanning procedures to assess bone density and body composition, ensuring accurate measurements and imaging.

• Apply radiation safety principles to protect patients and co-workers.

• Demonstrate technical and clinical competence in operating DXA and densitometry equipment including performing quality control on the DXA unit and other equipment as required.

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team, providing information and reassurance.

• Complete and document imaging procedures according to hospital guidelines, including quality control and regulatory compliance.

• Maintain clinical competency through ongoing education and training.

• Participate in departmental activities, including training new team members and ensuring efficient patient care.

• Follow safety procedures and report any equipment issues or unsafe practices.

• Positions, transfers and properly immobilizes patients as required.

• Assists in performing first aid, and CPR.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• HS diploma

• Experience not required but 6 months of patient care would be preferred.

• Successful completion of an on-the-job or formal education/training program in bone densitometry required as a pre-requisite to the limited license exam in bone densitometry offered by the State of California, Radiologic Health Branch.

• Possess good communication skills to communicate effectively with other technologists, radiologists and other members of the health care team.

• Has knowledge of radiation safety principles.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

• California Limited CRT Certificate

• BLS Certificate

This position is responsible for the assessment, treatment, and care of adult and geriatric patients.
