Goldbelt, Incorporated is an urban, Alaska Native, for-profit corporation with offices in Juneau, Alaska and Herndon, Virginia. Its primary purpose is to manage assets and conduct business for the benefit of its 3,900 Alaska Native shareholders.

Summary:

Under the direction of the General Manager of Goldbelt Transportation LLC, the incumbent(s) will be responsible for operating a 40-foot passenger bus, providing transportation for Kensington Mine staff, and ensuring passenger safety and satisfaction.


Responsibilities

Job Duties:

  • Complies at all times with safety and traffic regulations and requirements while driving the bus.
  • Assists with loading and unloading of passengers and freight.
  • Performs safety checks on vehicle.
  • Performs minor maintenance and cleaning of vehicle including sweeping and mopping, window washing, lubrication, oil and tire pressure checks, and minor mechanical repairs.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to safely drive a passenger bus in all types of weather, road conditions, and in darkness.
  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance on the bus.
  • Ability to lift 50-pounds.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle emergency or stressful situations in a calm manner.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to install tire chains.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Forty-foot passenger bus, mobile radio, telephone, and hand tools used in the maintenance of vehicles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 19 years of age and have held a driver's license for at least one year.
  • Required Certifications:
    • DOT Physical,
    • Current First Aid CPR Certification,
    • Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with passenger and air brake endorsements, and
    • Possess a medical certificate for CDL drivers.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug test; subject to random drug testing.
  • Must be able to pass a breathalyzer test before each shift for Kensington Mine.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in customer service or working with the public.

Pay and Benefits:

The starting pay for this position is $25.00 hourly.
