Seeking a new career challenge? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Woolpert is hiring a Sr. Project Engineer, Water Resources to join our dynamic Engineering team at our Virginia Beach, Virginia office. This position reports to the Engineer Team Leader and is responsible for managing the technical delivery of stormwater, water, and wastewater design projects, including infrastructure improvements, hydraulic modeling, and construction document development. Qualified candidates will have strong leadership in project design efforts, coordination of multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring junior staff. Priority will be given to candidates who have experience in stormwater management systems and stormwater modeling; proficiency in Civil3D is essential.



Responsibilities

As a Sr. Project Engineer, Water Resources at Woolpert, you will:

    Support various phases of our stormwater/water/wastewater design projects from communication with clients to deliverable generation.
  • Manage the technical delivery aspects of all assigned projects including but not limited to: stormwater/water/wastewater system infrastructure improvements, preliminary engineering reports (PERs), development of construction documents, field data collection, pump station analysis and design, hydraulic modeling, permitting.
  • Support the project manager in scope development and execution including project budgets and schedules.
  • Lead project technical/design efforts, construction plan creation, and design team coordination.
  • Draft and design plans as necessary utilizing Civil3D software.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance to junior team members in an effective manner that fosters growth.
  • Oversee and monitor multidisciplinary teams during project execution.
  • Delegate design or other technical tasks that are clearly defined to junior staff.
  • Responsible for meeting internal and/or external deadlines.
  • Comply with and implementing clearly defined QA/QC measures.
  • Coordinate with other teams or groups to assure resource management for all projects or tasks.
  • Train and mentor staff as appropriate.
  • Perform additional duties as required by client or internal business needs.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 8+ years of related experience and working knowledge in the analysis and design of stormwater/water/wastewater systems.
  • Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Civil 3D, stormwater/water/wastewater system design/planning software (i.e., WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, etc.), ESRI/GIS software (e.g., ArcMap, Arcpro, Arcgis Online), and Bentley MicroStation software.
  • The position will require both office and field based performed work.
  • Frequent local travel is required.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Master's Degree would be advantageous but not required.
  • Experience in stormwater management systems and stormwater modeling is highly desirable.
  • Experience in coastal engineering is preferred.
  • Knowledge of BIM Practices is preferred.
