Your Role

The Director for Strategy & Innovation is a pivotal leadership position focused onoverseeing the implementation of Saab Inc.'s corporate strategyand driving operational and innovation excellence. Reporting directly to the CSO, the Director plays a key role in ensuring strategic initiatives are successfully executed, operational efficiency is maximized, and innovation efforts are aligned with Saab's long-term objectives.

The Director will work closely with General Managers (GMs) and functional leads across the company, ensuring that their defined OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) are aligned with Saab Inc.'s overall strategic goals and tracked for progress. In addition, the Director will collaborate with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) on technology-related initiatives and support corporate development in M&A activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Implementation and Oversight

  • Lead the implementation of Saab Inc.'s corporate strategy, ensuring organizational alignment with goals and the timely delivery of key initiatives.

  • Support the alignment and tracking of company-wide OKRs defined by GMs and functional leads, ensuring they contribute to Saab's overarching strategic priorities.

  • Oversee annual budgeting for strategic initiatives and manage resource allocation to ensure effective execution.

Support for M&A and Corporate Development

  • Support corporate development efforts inM&A activities, including corporate diligence, synergy realization, and integration management.

  • Provide operational guidance to ensure M&A efforts align with Saab's strategic and operational goals, driving long-term value creation.

Collaboration with CTO on Technology Integration

  • Partner with the CTO to integrate emerging technologies, including AI, ML, and autonomous systems, into Saab's portfolio.

  • Align technological advancements with Saab's broader strategy to improve agility and customer responsiveness.

Process Optimization and Operational Excellence

  • Drive operational efficiency by streamlining processes and adopting value-accretive tools across the organization.

  • Optimize cross-functional collaboration by developing and implementing frameworks to align incentives and streamline operations.

  • Conduct regular assessments of Saab Inc.'s operational strategy to ensure measurable progress and recommend adjustments as needed.

Stakeholder Engagement and Visibility

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance visibility and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

  • Represent Saab in external forums, advisory boards, and thought leadership opportunities to promote its innovation capabilities.

Team Development and Leadership

  • Mentor and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.

  • Align team efforts with Saab's strategic priorities, ensuring they are well-equipped and motivated to achieve success.

Compensation Range:$231,200-$312,100

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Required Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in business, engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, with a proven track record in strategy, innovation, and operational management.

  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects across the triple helix (government, academia, and industry).

Required Skills

  • Advanced understanding of innovation ecosystems, strategic implementation, and M&A processes.

  • Strong analytical and operational skills to assess and adjust strategic and innovation initiatives effectively.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.

  • Knowledge of defense and security markets and customer requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum Secret-level clearance or eligibility for classified information access.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
