Job Overview

This Sr Manager Risk Control position will focus 80% of their time on Mega locations, these 20 locations produce about 60% of the injuries and crashes. The other 20% will be spent on large locations, these 16 locations produce the next highest percentage of injuries and crashes at 18%. The Sr Manager Risk Control position will be part of the overall strategy to reduce our spend of 30MM dollars on injuries and crashes during the calendar year. This is a senior manager role that will be a hybrid of field and influence leadership and will be developing talent for the next level Director roles.

Duties & Responsibilities

These are some of the high-level duties expected by this senior level role.



  • Complete regularly scheduled audits of drive cams units at mega locations to ensure connectivity, event recorder health and consistent log in to Geotab by the individual drivers.
  • Drive the monthly Smith System trainer meetings and become trainers themselves to help shore up gaps, coach/train the coaches and be a Smith System Trainer.
  • Perform Driver Evaluations on select group of "riskiest" drives.
  • Audit local records and processes for Entry Level Driver trainers.
  • Perform Safety Observations in the market on a select group of "riskiest" teammates.
  • Support locations that have Unify services and measure Ergo programs effectiveness.
  • Support Powered Industrial Truck program activities and be a certified PIT Trainer.
  • Develop "Dangerous Work" mitigation program to include PITs, Lockout Tagout, Working at Heights, Traffic Routes & Electrical Safety.
  • Collaborate with local field safety resources to maximize coverage of mega locations.
  • Help on board and train new field safety team members.
  • Focus training and education for sales teammates driving personal cars on company business.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • ASP, CSP, GSP, ARM certifications would be beneficial for this role.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple assignments through multiple locations at one time.
  • Decision-making ability in a crisis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a large ability to influence and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Travel and management at multiple work locations with a variety of personalities.
  • Able to read, understand, and interpret loss run reports.
  • Work independently without constant supervision.
  • Problem-solving skills with a focus on research into legal and regulatory matters, ability to interpret trends.
  • Experience with Workplace Safety, Risk Management, Environmental, Transportation Safety, Ergonomics, Hazardous Materials, and Work Health Initiatives.
  • ASP - Associate Safety Professional (Entry-level safety and environmental designation).
  • CSP - Certified Safety Professional (Top-level safety and environmental designation).
  • GSP - Graduate Safety Professional (Mid-level safety and environmental designation (has a degree in safety, environmental field).
  • ARM - Associate Risk Management (Risk Management designation around risk control, risk financing, risk mitigation).
  • Ability to lead and influence other safety professionals with a high level of influence.
  • Have insight to understand the organizational needs versus just a market unit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school and/or relevant experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of safety field experience within the beverage industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge acquired through 3 to up to 5 years of work experience at Coca Cola Consolidated.
  • College degree preferred but may substitute safety and risk control work experience at the rate of two years work experience to one year college (e.g. Four years minimum safety and risk control work experience in lieu of Associate's degree).
