Job Summary

The Case Specialist I works as part of the Rally Family Visitation team providing direct services to families referred through the Family Court, primarily in Marin, San Francisco and/or San Mateo. Specialists work with Case Coordinators and Supervisors to deliver professional services centering the best interest of children and protecting adult survivors of domestic violence. The Case Specialist's work schedule may include holidays, weekends and weekdays/evenings, as well as providing on-call coverage during direct service hours.

Under general supervision, works on operational and / or procedural assignments which are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving procedural issues. Tasks involve the handling of confidential information. Makes recommendations to improve processes and / or procedures. This is a position that is not covered by the Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA), because they are: 1) Confidential - meaning employee's duties normally require access to confidential information which contributes significantly to the development of management's positions in bargaining or grievances; or 2) the employee is employed outside of California at a location with 100 or fewer employees. (Note: most UC administrative work at this level is covered and represented by a bargaining unit. Job Title: Blank Assistant II, 4723, CX).

Rally Family Visitation Services is a community program of UCSF Health Saint Francis Hospital, serving Bay Area children and families since 1991. Building bridges essential to community health and well being-empowering joyful futures for vulnerable kids and families-Rally keeps kids safe and connected to both parents during very difficult transitions: separations, divorce or reunifications compounded by allegations and concerns about substance use, mental health, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and child abduction. Welcoming family members without judgement, Rally's mission is to promote the safety of children, the safety of adult victims of domestic violence, and equitable access to a neutral space and professional visitation services enabling children in separated families to experience healthy relationships with both parents.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $22.67 - $32.01 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

May have basic knowledge in administrative procedures including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Requires basic verbal and written communication skills, active listening, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications


  1. Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related field.
  2. Experience working with families experiencing obstacles or in conflict, primarily domestic violence.
  3. Strong knowledge of child development, child abuse prevention, and child exposure to domestic violence.
  4. Experience with case management and/or social work.
  5. Fluency in a second language preferred, particularly Bilingual/Bicultural Spanish or Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin).
  6. Database knowledge and experience.

License/Certification


  1. Complete California's Judicial Standards 5.20 Training, and achieve the qualification standard, as soon as the Training is available.
  2. Live Scan fingerprinting and TrustLine registration is required within the first 30 days of employment.
