Salesforce is seeking an entrepreneurial product & engineering leader for the VP & GM, Email and Messaging Platform role. This leader will be accountable for building out the next-generation of email and messaging platforms for Salesforce on the Salesforce Platform as Customer Zero. This role is a unique opportunity for a product leader who desires direct, hands on impact and rapid innovation to push the groundbreaking of marketing technology as Salesforce builds the Agentic enterprise.

The Customer Zero team in Product act as an innovation lab to deploy Salesforce technology for our own business needs, build new functionality to meet Salesforce use cases, and share back code and insights to accelerate the development of the Salesforce platform for our customers. This role will drive the development of the next-generation of Salesforce Marketing Cloud by deeply understanding our current platform, partnering with Marketing Cloud product teams to test the next-generation of the Marketing Cloud platform, and extending Marketing Cloud to meet Salesforce's needs with partner technologies and custom development.

This role will lead an integrated team of product management, engineering, data, and operations guides to build and run marketing technology at scale. They will have accountability for budget, team management, product delivery, and operations. They will partner deeply with the Salesforce marketing teams to set the standard for email marketing delivering more personalized, relevant, and highly performing email programs. Success in this role is building and deploying marketing technology to drive improvements in core metrics like open rates, click through rates, website engagement, and ultimately pipeline, ACV, customer adoption, and customer satisfaction.

The VP & GM, Email & Messaging Platform will report to the SVP & GM, Marketing Automation and Messaging Platform and give to the wider data, marketing, and automation community at Salesforce. This leader will be accountable for creating an inspiring and accountable performance culture that helps everyone do the best work of their careers.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the email and messaging platform transformation program to build, launch, and run the next-generation of Salesforce Email and Messaging Marketing on the Salesforce Platform. This transformation will enable more automated, personalized, and relevant messaging programs that improve Salesforce business KPIs and delight our customers.
  • Build and lead robust product development, engineering, data, and operational practices to ensure continuous improvement in product delivery and platform operations
  • Drive thoughtful roadmap and architectural decisions to extend the Salesforce Platform with partner technologies and custom development to meet Salesforce's business needs. Partner closely with Architect leads to align to enterprise architecture standards and long term roadmap.
  • Effectively lead the ongoing operations for our email and messaging platforms including data quality, platform uptime, deliverability metrics, IP whitelisting, and other critical operational metrics for high scale marketing campaigns
  • Run an integrated organization with responsibility for all talent management including performance management, promotions and talent development, recruitment, compensation planning, training, and commitment to overall employee success in line with Salesforce standards and processes.
  • Lead a suite of vendors and consultancies to deliver products and programs including budget management, program management, and procurement of new partners through Salesforce procurement standards
  • Actively partner and scale the impact and integrations of the products, platforms, and processes with teams in Marketing Technology, Business Technology, and our Technology and Product organization to ensure alignment and delivery of shared success for critical business processes and outcomes
  • Demonstrate industry thought leadership and customer success through presentations and engagements at Salesforce events, customer engagements, and 3rd party forums
  • Ensure Salesforce Marketing technology and processes implement to our #1 value of Trust with all needed security, data management, and compliance processes required for regulatory compliance and Salesforce standards

Position Requirements:

  • 15-20+ years in product management and technical leadership, with at least 10 years running significant size product and technology organizations with a consistent record of delivery of product functionality and business KPIs
  • Proven record of launching and growing products in the enterprise spaces with a strong preference to marketing or advertising technology platforms for Fortune 100 companies.
  • Confirmed experience in synthesizing and translating market needs into product requirements; ability to manifest the product vision/direction via compelling positioning, roadmaps, and technical delivery
  • Deep knowledge and validated use of agile software development practices including Scrum/Agile methodology and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) for delivering software applications and platforms
  • Experience leading a 50-100+ FTE organization with shown success growing an organization to meet the needs of the business through hiring FTEs, onboarding contingent staff, and integrating service providers
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories for diverse audiences to communicate strategy, product roadmap, operational delivery, and industry thought leadership
  • Tried ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with team members at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to influence and deliver results in global, matrixed environments comprised of multiple internal and external customers.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally ~25% of the time for team management, Salesforce sponsored events, industry thought leadership, and customer engagements

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring, Salesforce will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $307,100 to $491,500. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
