About the Job

The Department of Surgery Grants & Contracts (SGC) team has an exciting entry level opportunity with room for growth. We are seeking a Grants & Contracts Professional 1 or 2 (depending on experience) to support busy clinical and research faculty by managing an independent portfolio of proposal. The SGC team is committed to promoting a collaborative work environment and encourages the continuous development of its staff and resources.

This hybrid position will primarily work independently with day-to-day activities; and report to the Pre-award Grants and Contracts Professional 3. During the 6-month probationary period, the successful candidate will be expected to follow a hybrid work schedule. Following the probationary period the candidate will have the option to be mostly remote with the exception of required trainings, team events, and other on-site work activities.

The successful candidate will receive training and be part of a collaborative team who helps facilitate proposal submission up to the point an award is made. This position reports to the Pre-award Grants and Contracts Professional 3.

* Assist with new departmental research initiatives as they are developed.

* Collaborate with other SGC team members to ensure seamless service delivery of proposals
* Share knowledge and interpretation of issues relevant to proposals and awards
* Monitor both sponsor pre-award compliance (FCOI, RCR, Sponsors' public access policies, other support documentation, use of human subjects or vertebrate animals, etc.) and University pre-award compliance across the DOS

professional society meetings and other training opportunities, as agreed upon with the SGC Manager
* Assist with the development and implementation of training resources and tools for the SGC team and Department of Surgery faculty and staff.
* Other tasks, as assigned by the Pre-award Grants and Contracts Professional 3.
Please note that GCP 1 & 2s do the same type of work but there are some differences between the two levels:
*GCP 2s are expected to have more experience and will be expected to handle a larger grant portfolio and may require less training.
*GCP 2s will be responsible for supporting a larger number of faculty, which may require more collaboration.
