As the Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of our property, ensuring that accounting processes run smoothly, and safeguarding the resort's assets. In this leadership role, you will oversee all accounting operations, including financial reporting, payroll processing, and cash management. Your ability to analyze complex financial information, provide strategic insights, and manage a high-performing accounting team will directly contribute to the success of our resort.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Oversee the property's accounting operations to ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial information.
  • Safeguard the property's cash flow, including maintaining house banks, reconciling deposits, and ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Manage the purchase order process to ensure expenses are submitted, approved, and tracked appropriately, while maintaining the property's declining checkbook.
  • Supervise vendor invoice processing, including coding, approvals, and data entry into the accounting system.
  • Process payroll by managing timekeeping systems, exporting data, and verifying accuracy for payroll submissions.
  • Prepare monthly accrual entries and ensure accurate general ledger postings for all routine expenses.
  • Review financial statements monthly, providing variance analysis and trend insights to the Director of Finance and corporate office.
  • Support sales and catering by ensuring tax exemption documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Collaborate with internal and external audit functions to ensure compliance with all procedural standards.
  • Implement and optimize company programs to maximize profitability, including cost control measures and vendor management.



Hotel Specific:



  • Prepare bank reconciliations and Balance Sheet reconciliations monthly.
  • Manage the preparation of monthly Financial Statements including journal preparation.



Physical Demands:



  • Lift or move boxes weighing up to 25lbs
  • Stand, walk within hotels areas and sit for long periods of time throughout the shift


Qualifications:

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or any other combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates.



Experience:



  • Five years' experience in hotels. Large, luxury property experience preferred.
