The Senior Estimator position prepares detailed cost estimates for proposed new construction projects involving both competitive bid and negotiated type work. This position manages and performs a variety of estimating duties including quantity take- offs, database input, coordination of bid documents for distribution to Subcontractors, and research of product data and suppliers. Extensive knowledge of constructions costs and the ability to support the overall activities of the Preconstruction team are imperative.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews construction documents for both negotiated and bid projects; determines both the nature and scope of the work to be performed.
- Interfaces with a wide variety of professional people including architects, owner representatives, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.
- Actively participates in all design meetings with owners and architects during development of the design. Involve the subject matter experts within the organization to provide feedback directly to owners and architects during the design process to enhance the cost, schedule, quality, and constructability of a project.
- Works with the estimating staff to prepare detailed quantity take-offs for assigned segments of the project and apply unit costs. Using an approved list of contractors, invites subcontractors to submit pricing. Create bid packages that are complete in scope and easy to follow.
- Compiles cost data received for subcontractors for Webcor Estimators. Examines data as it is being received for both accuracy and sufficiency before completing the final estimate.
- When preliminary cost estimates exceed the owner's expected budget, works with architects and owners in a value-engineering role. Assists in exploring a multitude of architectural alternatives; pricing the alternatives that offers the greatest opportunity for cost savings. To identify other cost-savings alternative solicits the view of other Webcor personnel (Project Managers and Superintendents).
- Assists in maintaining and updating the master subcontractor list for all trades.
- Mentor more junior staff. May review the work of other staff members for accuracy; offers suggestions as needed before bid data is consolidated.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Advanced knowledge of construction costs and principles
- Advanced knowledge of the following software: WinEst, OST, Revit, Excel
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
- Adept in quickly learning new software, related to drawing, modeling, estimating and scheduling.
- Advanced knowledge of construction drawings, costs and principals.
- Detailed estimating experience.
- Have a solid knowledge and understanding of costs to prepare conceptual estimates.
- Demonstrate a desire to continue to learn and grow, and a desire for continuous improvement.
LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS REQUIRED
- Ability to effectively lead, manage and mentor staff.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; with preferable two years of experience as a Project Engineer, and with a minimum of eight years of diversified estimating and construction experience.
The range of base pay is $173,900 - $209,150. Actual pay is based on individual skill level and experience. Webcor is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
