Work Location: Johns Hopkins Health System (750 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD) Hybrid, in office 25%.

Work Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Position Summary:

The Patient Safety Associate is a member of the patient safety team supporting patient safety efforts across the Johns Hopkins Health System. Primary responsibilities include reviewing near misses and adverse events submitted to the organization's voluntary event reporting database, obtaining data from other systems to investigate and validate events, performing event trend analysis, and presenting to groups using a clinical and operational lens and advanced qualitative and quantitative analytic skills.

This position will lead various interdisciplinary patient safety committee meetings at a hospital and health system level, working collaboratively with leaders and colleagues from across departments and organizations to facilitate improvement efforts. The position will manage projects from start to finish, review and suggest policy edits as needed, and track system changes.

This position is critical in educating new users on configuring and troubleshooting the adverse event reporting database. This position also presents educational programs on adverse event reporting, safety science, and high reliability.

Education:

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree is strongly preferred.





Work Experience:

A minimum of five (5) years of relevant clinical experience, risk management, quality, or patient safety experience is required. Experience leading patient safety efforts or safety data analysis is preferred.





Knowledge:

Must have a high level of clinical and healthcare operations knowledge necessary to review and respond to complex patient safety hazards. Knowledge of medical records such as Epic and/or Cerner. A working knowledge of managing event reporting databases is preferred.

Salary Range: Minimum 36.49 per hour - Maximum 60.26 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
