Responsibilities in the cardiac surgery OR which include vein and artery harvesting, first and second assist, etc. as well as responsibilities for organ procurement activities of working with the surgical team to perform organ procurements and to enhance the efforts of the institution in its primary goal of procuring organs, and tissues for transplantation and research. Under the direction, supervision and responsibility of a physician, and in accordance with established policies, evaluates patient's health status through diagnostic procedures and tests. Provides medical care (pre-, intra-, and post-operative) of patients, in the operating suite (OR), according to established protocols.

Salary range listed does not include call time and call back. The salary range listed does not include sign-on bonus.

Education:




  • Successful completion of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) program.
  • RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) certification required.




Knowledge:




  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, psychology, pharmacology, clinical medicine, radiology, microbiology, and pathology.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical and/or surgical procedures, patient care protocols, and medical testing procedures.




Skills:




  • Expertise in the specialty area of cardiac surgery OR.
  • Analytical ability to assess patient health status and implement appropriate care plans.
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interview, educate, and counsel patients, as well as instruct healthcare personnel on procedures and treatments.




Work Experience:




  • Preferred: Ten or more years of experience in the cardiac surgery OR, including vein and artery harvesting, and first and second assisting.




Required Licensure/Certifications:




  • Licensed as an ACNP by the MD Board of Nursing.
  • Board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Current BLS/ACLS certification required.
