Job Description

Now hiring Armed Security Professionals to work at the Nuclear facility!

    Starting wage is $24.00 / hour
  • Day Shift Schedule
  • Part time- guaranteed minimum of 15 hours per week
  • Site located in Lynchburg, Virginia

Allied Universal is looking to hire a Nuclear Search Officer (Search and Seal). The Nuclear Search Officer ensures that special equipment, vehicles, and materials coming from outside vendors are searched and sealed according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Licensee, and company procedures prior to allowing them access into a licensee's Protected Area. They are responsible to search, seal, photograph, and document the process to ensure that all aspects of equipment, vehicles, and materials are secured against sabotage or the concealment of contraband. The Nuclear Search Officer may be required to travel to the point of origin for the search items, conduct the search, and may also need to be at the site when the search items are delivered. They are responsible for providing reports, logs, documents, etc. to support the search and seal process.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and site policies, procedures, and directives
  • Conduct searches of equipment, vehicles, and materials at point of origin
  • Apply seals to ensure the integrity of the searched equipment, vehicles, and materials
  • Report any discrepancies found in the search and seal process to AUS RSS Management and appropriate client personnel
  • Document the search and seal process through reports, logs, photographs, drawings, etc.
  • Interact cordially and professionally with the customers, vendors, and the public
  • Maintain periodic qualification requirement
  • Ensure house-keeping expectations are met
  • Attend the arrival of the equipment, vehicle, and materials at the destination site, as required
  • Provide communication, reports, data to demonstrate completion of contractual requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary state or federal licensing requirements
  • Must have prior experience in law enforcement, security, nuclear industry, or the military
  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Ability to work variable schedules to accommodate the search
  • Must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass a state licensing test as you will be driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to interact cordially and communicate with the customers and the public
  • Pass the following, post-offer in accordance with the code of federal regulations for armed nuclear security assignment (10CFR, Appendix B):
    • MMPI Psychological testing
    • Physical Exams, including vision and hearing, in accordance with nuclear regulatory requirements and site training and qualification plan
    • Nuclear site-specific training and testing providing general knowledge of nuclear power generation science and principles, plant rules and regulations, communications, and access. In addition, this training and testing may include radiation worker principles including respirator training, fit and dress out.
