General Summary: Family Support Specialists are responsible for initiating and maintaining regular and long-term (prenatal and up to five years) contact and support with families. Under the direction and supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Family Support Specialist is responsible for conducting home visits, completing assessments, processing data entry, and providing primary parent education in the areas of breastfeeding, attachment, child development, family well-being, and home safety per funder and curriculum affiliate requirements. Program participants may be experiencing the following: domestic violence, homelessness, mental health issues, coping with a special needs diagnosis, and Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) involvement. Staff will link the program participants to community resources and follow up to ensure the families are meeting their personal goals.
